Bright Data operates a web data infrastructure platform for searching, crawling, extracting, and acting on data across the public web, and publishes the official Bright Data MCP Server for integration with AI agents and language models such as Claude.

The platform consists of several interconnected components: a proxy infrastructure with more than 400 million residential proxy IPs across 195 countries, plus datacenter and ISP proxy options; pre-built and custom scraping APIs for data extraction; and web access APIs such as Unlocker, SERP, Browser, and Crawl, designed to bypass anti-bot measures. A dataset marketplace offers pre-collected, high-quality data from more than 800 domains, a web archive provides petabyte-scale historical web data, and the AI Scraper Studio lets users turn websites into structured data pipelines without writing code.

Through the MCP server, web scraping capabilities can be built directly into agentic workflows, letting AI agents pull current web data on their own instead of relying on potentially outdated training knowledge.

The business model is subscription-based SaaS with tiered access, billed by data volume, proxy usage, and API calls; free trials are also available. The company says it serves more than 50,000 organizations worldwide.

The company was founded in Israel in 2014 under the name Luminati Networks, as a spin-off of the VPN provider Hola, by Derry Shribman and Ofer Vilenski, and has operated as Bright Data since 2021, headquartered in Tel Aviv.
