Harness Components for AI Agents
Harness building blocks (components) for customising an agent like Claude Code itself – subagents, hooks, slash commands, memory tools, automations.

- Harness Components for AI Agents
Harness components do not merely connect an AI agent to external data; they shape how the agent behaves in daily work. They include subagents, hooks, slash commands, memory strategies, automations and other extensions that define how an agent prepares, executes, verifies or documents a task. For Claude Code and similar developer agents, this layer often determines whether a setup is reliable in practice.
Skill Road lists harness entries separately from MCP servers and skills for that reason. Detail pages show which type of component is involved, who provides it, which compatibilities are documented and whether a repository or documentation source is available. The overview helps you compare suitable extensions before bringing them into a local development environment.
When choosing a component, it matters whether it adds a small convenience feature or changes the workflow at a deeper level. A hook can trigger commands before or after an action, while a subagent may take on a distinct role inside a project. Skill Road therefore records type, source and use context where available instead of listing only the package name.
