Superpowers

Agentic skills framework for structured software development – brainstorming, worktrees, TDD, subagent review, and branch wrap-up in one plugin.

Superpowers is a complete software development methodology for coding agents: a collection of composable skills plus initial instructions that make sure the agent actually uses them. Instead of jumping straight into code, the agent first asks what you're really trying to achieve, works out a specification with you in digestible chunks, plans the implementation test-first following YAGNI and DRY principles, and then has specialized subagents work through the individual tasks, review each other's work, and hand off. Per the provider, it's not uncommon for the agent to keep working autonomously on the agreed plan for a couple of hours without drifting off course — and because the skills trigger automatically, there's nothing special you need to do yourself.

The skills library in detail

Per the repository, the collection is organized into four areas. For testing, test-driven-development provides the RED-GREEN-REFACTOR cycle along with an anti-pattern reference. For debugging, systematic-debugging offers a four-phase root-cause process, and verification-before-completion ensures a fix is actually confirmed rather than merely claimed. Collaboration covers the largest share: brainstorming for Socratic idea refinement, writing-plans and executing-plans for detailed, checkpoint-based implementation plans, dispatching-parallel-agents for concurrent subagent workflows, requesting-code-review and receiving-code-review for structured feedback, using-git-worktrees for parallel development branches, and finishing-a-development-branch for the final merge-or-pull-request decision. The meta category includes writing-skills as a guide for creating your own skills and using-superpowers as an introduction to the whole system.

Supported coding agents

Per the provider, Superpowers now covers a very broad range of harnesses: Claude Code via the official Anthropic marketplace or the project's own Superpowers marketplace, plus Antigravity, Codex App and CLI, Cursor, Devin CLI, Factory Droid, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Grok Build CLI, Kimi Code, OpenCode, Pi, and, more recently, Hermes Agent. Each platform has its own installation path documented in the repository; per the provider, anyone using several harnesses in parallel installs Superpowers separately for each one.

Philosophy

The core principles stated in the repository are: test-driven development with tests written first, systematic over ad-hoc approaches, complexity reduction as the primary goal, and evidence over claims — an agent should only report success after genuine verification.

Commercial support

For enterprise use, the team behind Superpowers states it offers commercial support, additional tooling, and managed spend controls; contact runs through the provider team's own email address.

Visual companion telemetry

Since skills and plugins normally give creators no feedback at all, per the provider the optional visual companion feature in brainstorming loads a logo from the provider's own website that includes the Superpowers version in use — without transmitting any project details, prompts, or clicks. This telemetry is entirely optional and can be disabled via the SUPERPOWERS_DISABLE_TELEMETRY environment variable; Claude Code's own telemetry opt-outs are also honored.

License and contributing

The repository is licensed under MIT. Per the provider, new skills are generally not accepted from outside contributors, but improvements to existing skills are welcome as long as they work across all supported coding agents.

Who benefits from Superpowers

The system is especially valuable for teams wanting their coding agent to work more disciplined than in free chat mode: structured specification before the first line of code, traceable plans instead of black-box decisions, and a review process that catches mistakes early. Anyone only occasionally generating short snippets will barely need this overhead — but anyone aiming for multi-hour, autonomous development sessions will find a well-thought-out framework here.
