v0
Vercel's generative AI assistant: turn a prompt into interfaces, prototypes, and full-stack apps with Next.js, React, and Tailwind – from a free tier up to Plus, Business, and Enterprise.

v0 is an AI assistant from the US company Vercel, Inc., best known for the Vercel hosting and deployment platform and the Next.js web framework. Vercel introduced v0 in 2023 as a tool for "generative UI" – producing user interfaces from a text description. The vendor now describes v0 as "an AI agent that helps anyone create real code and full-stack apps and agents." Unlike a coding assistant built into an editor, v0 runs as a standalone web application at v0.app: you work in a chat, describe in natural language what you want, and get working code together with a preview. That makes v0 a fit for anyone who wants to move quickly from an idea to a visible result without setting up a project first.
What v0 does
v0 generates high-fidelity interfaces from a description, a wireframe, or a screenshot, and per the vendor builds on a modern web stack of Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and the shadcn/ui components. Beyond individual components, you can build complete applications with both UI and server logic wired to databases and APIs. A real-time preview runs while you work; text, layout, and design can be adjusted directly on the result without going back to the prompt.
Agent features
v0 does not only act on request but, per the vendor, takes on sub-tasks on its own: web search, inspecting existing pages, automatically fixing errors, and calling external tools. This lets the assistant improve a draft iteratively rather than returning a single one-shot suggestion.
Integrations and deployment
Finished projects can be published to Vercel's infrastructure with one click. v0 can also work with services from the Vercel ecosystem – databases, for example – and sync projects with GitHub, so the generated code lands in a regular repository and can be developed further there in the normal way.
Models and credits
v0 bundles several current language-model families behind one interface; which ones are usable, and to what extent, depends on the plan. Billing is usage-based: input and output are measured in tokens and converted into credits, a fixed amount of which is included with each plan every month. Longer prompts, larger outputs, and any chat history and source files sent along consume more credits. Once the monthly credits are used up, generation pauses; additional credits can be bought on the paid plans and – on Team and Enterprise plans – shared.
Free tier
The free plan includes a small monthly credit allowance, allows publishing to Vercel, visual editing, and GitHub sync, and caps the number of messages per day. It is enough for first experiments and small interfaces.
Plus
Plus targets individual power users and small teams: full model access, a substantially larger monthly credit allowance per user, a small amount credited daily on login, plus centralized billing and team collaboration. The former "Premium" plan is being sunset per the vendor and is no longer selectable for new accounts.
Business
Business offers the same models and credits as Plus but adds provisions for privacy-conscious teams – among other things, opting out of training on your data is on by default per the vendor – as well as extended team and administration features.
Enterprise
Enterprise is custom-priced and adds SAML single sign-on, role-based access control, priority access with no queues, and the assurance that data is not used for training per the vendor.
Who v0 is for
v0 is worthwhile for anyone who wants to get from an idea to a clickable interface or a working prototype quickly, without setting up a project first – product people, designers, founders, and development teams who need a draft as a starting point. Anyone already working deep inside an editor, changing things line by line, is usually better served by an assistant built into the development environment; v0 is at its strongest when generating and quickly reworking whole interfaces. Because v0 builds on Next.js, React, and Tailwind CSS, it fits especially well with teams already working in that ecosystem and on Vercel. Vercel lists specific prices on its official pricing page.
