Muse is Meta Platforms' personal AI agent, described by the provider as a tool that gets everyday tasks done rather than just answering questions. Unlike a conventional chatbot, Muse connects to your email inbox, calendar, notes, and finance, fitness, smart-home, and shopping apps, then carries out multi-step tasks on top of that context — rescheduling an appointment, filling out a form, comparing prices, or completing a purchase once you approve it. Meta launched Muse on September 8, 2026, initially for users 18 and older in the United States, available as a web app at muse.ai, as a standalone app for iPhone and Android, and as a chat experience inside WhatsApp; a macOS desktop app rounds out the lineup. The name Muse covers both the consumer agent and the underlying model family, including Muse Spark, that Meta Superintelligence Labs develops.
Free tier
For most everyday requests, Muse stays free to use according to the provider; a weekly token allowance is meant to cover what Meta says is the majority of users' needs. Even the free tier requires a payment card on file, since the app automatically shifts usage above that allowance into a paid plan. Per reporting on Meta's own statements, the company expects most people to stay on the free tier indefinitely.
Power and Maximum
Anyone who regularly hands more demanding tasks to Muse can choose between two subscriptions, per the official Meta Help Center: the Power plan, which unlocks a substantially larger weekly usage allowance, and the Maximum plan for the heaviest use cases with the largest allowance on offer. Both subscriptions renew automatically each month on the purchase anniversary and can be cancelled at any time. Per the provider, subscribing requires residing in a country where Muse is available, being at least 18 years old, holding a Meta account, and agreeing to the terms of service. The official Meta support page for Muse subscriptions lists the current exact pricing.
Safety and privacy
According to Meta, Muse runs in a dedicated, sandboxed environment and cannot directly view stored passwords or payment details; sensitive actions such as purchases require explicit approval from the user, per the provider, before Muse carries them out. Meta also states that conversations with Muse are not shared with the company's advertising systems. Since the agent is still linked to personal accounts such as email, calendar, and Instagram or Facebook, it's worth reviewing the permissions you grant carefully before relying on Muse day to day.
Available platforms
Muse is available as a web app at muse.ai, as a native app in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, and as a chat experience inside WhatsApp; a macOS desktop app extends the lineup further. Per its App Store listing, Muse supports German and roughly 40 languages beyond English, even though regular access at launch is limited to adult users in the United States, with Meta planning to widen availability over time.
Who Muse fits
Muse suits people who no longer want to handle recurring personal organizational tasks — scheduling, tracking bills, prepping purchases, building workout or meal plans — step by step themselves, and would rather delegate them to an agent that works across apps. Light users will find the free tier sufficient, while anyone running Muse regularly across several parallel tasks or more involved research benefits from the larger allowances in the Power or Maximum subscriptions. People already embedded in Meta's ecosystem of WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook get extra value from the native integration with those services. Muse isn't built for professional software development or coding tasks, though; for that, the catalog's dedicated coding assistants like Cline, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot are a better fit.
