Sentry
Read-only workflows for querying Sentry through the official command line.

The Sentry skill in OpenAI's curated skills collection gives a Codex agent a cautious and repeatable workflow for investigating Sentry data. According to the provider, it is intended for inspecting Sentry issues and events, summarizing recent production errors, and retrieving basic Sentry health data through the Sentry command line. The entry explicitly frames the work as read-only observability. It is therefore not a monitoring service, not a replacement for Sentry, and not an autonomous remediation mechanism.
Purpose and operating model
The skill directs the agent to the official Sentry CLI and establishes useful defaults for common diagnostic questions. These defaults include a short time range, the production environment, and a bounded result count. Before querying, the agent should inspect the available CLI syntax and, when needed, discover a resource schema. Programmatic processing should request JSON so that fields can be selected deliberately and unnecessary data transfer can be reduced. These constraints turn an open request, such as asking for the most important unresolved production problems, into a traceable query with a title, identifier, priority, status, and error level.
Practical investigations
The skill covers listing issues by recency, resolving a short issue identifier to detailed information, loading related events, and requesting an explanation or remediation plan when those capabilities are available in the target Sentry environment. It also names the CLI's general API access as a fallback for resources without a dedicated subcommand. An agent can therefore select the narrowest suitable query instead of pulling an unbounded dataset. A useful summary should consider timestamps, environment, release, URL, and the relevant context fields. Personal data, IP addresses, and raw stack traces should be redacted or omitted from the response.
Requirements and boundaries
Actual execution requires the Sentry CLI to be installed locally and authenticated to the target account. According to the provider, authentication can be performed interactively through the CLI or by using a locally configured environment variable for authentication. The operator should perform that login on the local machine; secrets do not belong in chat or source control. The CLI attempts to detect an organization and project from local project information, configuration, and directory names. If detection is ambiguous or incorrect, the operator must specify the intended target explicitly. The skill itself contains no Sentry data, credentials, or project configuration.
Security and professional context
Read-only does not mean risk-free. Monitoring events can contain stack traces, URLs, user input, or secrets accidentally captured by an application. An agent should therefore apply least-data principles and request only the fields needed for the question. Sentry results may subsequently be passed to the selected agent and its model provider; a local CLI does not automatically prevent that transfer. According to the provider, authentication values must never be printed. The skill is well suited to first-line triage, error-trend reports, and release-focused questions. It does not replace authorization review, privacy assessment, or human decisions about production changes.
Source and license
The primary source is the skills/.curated/sentry directory in OpenAI's official skills repository. Its accompanying LICENSE.txt identifies Apache-2.0. Sentry's CLI documentation remains the authoritative source for installation, authentication, and current command details. OpenAI describes the workflow in the skill, while Sentry controls product behavior and access requirements. That distinction matters: this catalog entry makes no claim about a particular account entitlement, current terms, or fixed pricing. Suitability depends on the installed CLI, valid account permissions, selected environment, and sensitivity of the monitoring data being queried.
