Val Town operates a serverless platform that deploys TypeScript code to a live URL in roughly 100 milliseconds, and publishes an official MCP server for connecting AI agents. The platform also functions as a social coding environment where users can publish their deployments and discover and reuse other people's code.
Its feature set includes scheduled cron jobs, email functionality, and a built-in SQLite database plus S3-compatible storage directly on the platform, so simple applications don't need separate infrastructure. The built-in TypeScript editor offers AI-assisted coding; through the MCP server, Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor can connect directly, letting AI agents deploy code on their own instead of only making suggestions a human has to run manually.
The platform's speed is highlighted by engineers at major AI companies: an Anthropic engineer describes Val Town as "so much faster and smoother" for building MCPs and APIs compared to other platforms, while an OpenAI engineer praises its webhook capabilities, noting code runs "in literally 2 seconds."
Val Town was founded in 2022 by Steve Krouse and Tom MacWright, based in New York; the company positions itself as infrastructure for both human developers and AI agents that need instant code deployment.
