Sentry

Sentry operates a platform for application error and performance monitoring, helping development teams detect, understand, and fix problems in production software before they become larger outages. Rather than just collecting error reports, Sentry groups them by frequency, affected users, and related code changes, so teams can prioritize what to fix first.

Access to this data comes through several paths: a full REST API for direct integration into custom tools, a CLI tool for terminal-based error analysis, and the official, OAuth-authenticated MCP server, which gives AI agents structured, HTTP-based access to Sentry data — described by the company as the fastest way to give an agent structured access to error context.

Sentry started as an open-source project and is still available both as an open-source, self-hosted version and as a managed cloud service, letting teams choose between self-hosting and a managed offering without switching platforms.

Sentry was founded by David Cramer, a self-taught engineer without a conventional degree who worked as a software engineer before an internal tool grew into a standalone company. According to the company, Sentry has since grown into a multi-billion-dollar business with thousands of paying customers.
