Netlify operates a platform for deploying and hosting web applications, positioning itself as an end-to-end solution from development through to production delivery. Its core feature is automatic deployment directly from Git repositories: every pull request gets its own preview URL, so changes can be reviewed before merging, with one-click rollback if something goes wrong.
Beyond classic static hosting, Netlify offers serverless functions for backend logic, a global edge network with automatic HTTPS and DDoS protection, and additional building blocks such as a managed Postgres database (Netlify Database), object storage (Netlify Blobs), and an image CDN for on-demand optimization.
The official Netlify MCP Server lets developers control deployments and project configuration directly from AI-powered development environments, complemented by AI building blocks like AI Agent Runners for prototyping and an AI Gateway for unified access to different language models.
Netlify was founded in the summer of 2014 by Mathias Biilmann and Christian Bach, and says it now serves more than 10 million developers with over 60 million deployed applications, including companies like Meta, Autodesk, and Figma.
According to the company, its customers include the Kubernetes project itself, underscoring Netlify's claim to suit technically demanding open-source infrastructure as well as simple marketing sites.
