Microsoft

Microsoft develops and operates several official MCP servers for its own platforms. The Azure MCP Server connects AI agents to Azure services and can be used standalone or alongside the GitHub Copilot for Azure extension in VS Code. For Microsoft Fabric, the company's data analytics platform, there are two complementary servers: a remote Core server for quick access to Fabric workspaces, and a local Fabric MCP Server that packages API documentation, schemas, and best practices into an AI-accessible context layer without needing a live connection. A separate Fabric RTI MCP Server translates natural-language questions into KQL queries against real-time data in Eventhouse and Azure Data Explorer.

Microsoft also provides Playwright MCP, a server for browser-based automation and testing that lets AI workflows drive web interactions directly.

All of these servers are part of Microsoft's broader cloud and developer platform strategy, aimed at teams that want to integrate Azure, Fabric, or browser automation directly into agentic workflows.

Through tight integration with GitHub Copilot for Azure in Visual Studio Code, developers don't need to switch between separate tools to manage cloud resources, query Fabric workspaces, or run browser tests — all of these MCP servers can be driven from within the same agentic development environment.
