GitGuardian

GitGuardian is a French security vendor focused on secrets detection. That means finding credentials such as API keys, passwords or tokens that have accidentally ended up in source code, Git repositories or tools like Slack and Jira. The platform monitors internal repositories and, if you want, public sources such as GitHub as well. On top come honeytokens: deliberately planted decoy credentials that raise an alert as soon as someone uses them. The ggshield command-line tool checks code before it is even committed. For AI assistants, GitGuardian offers an official MCP server; MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants use external tools.
