Cloudflare

Cloudflare operates a global edge network of, by its own account, more than 330 data centers, covering three main areas: compute (Workers as serverless functions, Durable Objects for stateful applications, browser automation), storage and databases (R2 object storage, the serverless SQL database D1, key-value storage), and traditional network and security services such as CDN, DNS, a web application firewall, and bot mitigation.

On the AI side, Cloudflare offers Workers AI for model inference at the edge, an AI Gateway for observing AI requests, and Vectorize as a vector database for retrieval use cases. Building on that, Cloudflare provides several MCP servers, including one for API access and one for its own documentation — letting AI agents manage Cloudflare resources or answer usage questions directly.

Billing is usage-based on actual compute time rather than wall-clock time, made possible by using V8 isolates instead of traditional containers — which Cloudflare says is what eliminates cold starts.
