Asana operates a work management platform used, according to the company, by 85% of Fortune 100 companies, including Amazon, Accenture, Johnson & Johnson, Dell, and Merck.
The company positions its platform as "the OS for human-agent teams" - work is treated as a shared space where humans and AI agents operate together. At the core is the Asana Work Graph: a connected system linking goals, portfolios, projects, tickets, and tasks, so it's always clear who is doing what, by when, and toward which goal. Pre-built "AI Teammates" take on specialized roles: a Launch Coordinator handles event logistics and vendor management, a Portfolio Advisor monitors delivery risk, a Compliance Manager collects audit evidence, and a Project Manager helps with scoping and timeline planning. Enterprise features such as admin controls, security governance, audit trails, and granular permission scoping for AI agents round out the offering.
The business model follows a tiered pricing structure with Starter, Advanced, and Enterprise plans. The platform integrates with common tools like Google, Microsoft, Slack, Gmail, and Figma; StackAI by Asana also provides a solution for custom workflow automation.
Asana was founded in 2008 by Dustin Moskovitz (a co-founder of Facebook) and Justin Rosenstein, and has been publicly traded since 2020 (NYSE: ASAN, via a direct listing rather than a traditional IPO).
Alongside its own V2 MCP server, Asana also ships its own Claude Code plugin in Anthropic's officially maintained claude-plugins-official repository: a setup wizard for the OAuth connection between Claude Code and an Asana workspace.
