Description
The Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server is a public, read-only Model Context Protocol endpoint for product discovery in the Vivaldo online store. Vivaldo is a European specialist in computer accessories (MacBook cases, iPad cases, laptop sleeves, keyboard covers, screen protectors, etc.) based in Madrid, Spain. The MCP server enables AI assistants and shopping agents to search the public product catalog, retrieve product details, and list products from Shopify collections — without access to private data, orders, payments, or admin APIs.
What is the Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server?
The MCP server provides public product discovery tools for the Vivaldo store according to the provider. The live endpoint is available at https://mcp.vivaldo.shop/mcp. The server fully complies with the MCP protocol (JSON-RPC 2.0 over HTTP) and requires no authentication. The Vivaldo storefront is a public Shopify installation; the MCP tools work in conjunction with public Shopify Storefront APIs.
Architecture: MCP endpoint and Shopify Storefront API
The Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server acts as an HTTP wrapper around the public Shopify Storefront API. AI assistants connect to the server via the standardized MCP protocol endpoint and make structured requests. The server translates these into Shopify Storefront GraphQL queries, executes them, and returns results in MCP format. The system is entirely read-only and cloud-hosted; there are no local processes and no data storage outside of Shopify.
Available tools
The Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server provides the following four tools according to the official server card and MCP endpoint response:
get_store_info: Retrieves public metadata about the Vivaldo store: name, URL, description (computer accessories for MacBook, iPad, laptop), shipping regions (Europe, worldwide), and main product categories. Requires no parameters.
search_products: Searches the public Vivaldo product catalog by free-text queries (e.g., "MacBook case", "iPad cover", "laptop sleeve"). Accepts a query parameter and an optional limit parameter to constrain search results. According to verification on 2026-09-13, a maximum of 10 products per search are returned (product limit implemented).
get_product_by_handle: Retrieves detailed public information about a single product by its Shopify product handle (e.g., "carcasa-para-macbook-de-cuero-sintetico-tejido-beige"). Includes product title, description, price, available images, variants, and availability status. Requires a handle parameter.
get_collection_products: Lists public products from a named Shopify collection (e.g., "all-products", "featured-collections"). Supports a collection_handle parameter and an optional limit parameter. Allows agents to search curated product groups.
Distinction: Product Discovery vs. Checkout & Admin
The Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server is explicitly limited to public product discovery. According to the authentication documentation (https://www.vivaldo.shop/auth.md), the following functions are not available:
Customer account access
Checkout actions
Order tracking
Payment processing
Shopify Admin API
Private customer data
The server is in this sense entirely read-only and scoped to public storefront data.
Setup for AI agents and developers
To use the Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server in your own AI system, simply configure the HTTP endpoint https://mcp.vivaldo.shop/mcp as your MCP server. The standard initialization process consists of:
POST /mcp with a JSON-RPC 2.0 initialize message (standard MCP handshake)
Retrieve available tools via tools/list
Call individual tools via tools/call with appropriate arguments
The endpoint responds with structured JSON and requires no API keys or OAuth tokens. A detailed specification is available at https://www.vivaldo.shop/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json.
Security notes
The Vivaldo Product Discovery MCP Server requires no authentication according to the official server card and authentication documentation. The server is public and read-only. All retrieved data consists of public storefront information (product catalog, prices, availability) — no privacy risk for customer data. The only HTTP endpoints the server exposes are product discovery tools; admin, checkout, and customer APIs are completely isolated. Shopify Storefront API terms of use apply to the underlying data source.
Hosting & infrastructure
The MCP server is cloud-hosted at https://mcp.vivaldo.shop/mcp and operated by Vivaldo. The system is spatially and network-wise separate from the Vivaldo Shopify store; for privacy questions we refer to Shopify's documentation and Vivaldo's privacy statement. Server status and liveness can be verified at https://mcp.vivaldo.shop/mcp (POST initialize).
FAQ
Does the server only work for MacBook cases? No. The catalog includes MacBook cases, iPad cases, laptop sleeves, keyboard covers, screen protectors, and other computer accessories. The search_products function allows any free-text queries.
Can I add items to my cart? No. The MCP server is read-only and supports no checkout, order, or payment functions. To shop, visit https://www.vivaldo.shop directly.
Is the server free to use? Yes. The public MCP endpoint is available at no cost. Vivaldo covers hosting costs as part of its online store operations.
How current is the product data? Data comes directly from the Vivaldo Shopify Storefront and is queried in real time. Product availability and prices match the current store status.
Which countries are supported for shipping? Vivaldo ships to Spain, Europe, and worldwide. Shipping details are documented publicly in the get_store_info response.
Is there a public GitHub repository? The MCP server is a cloud-hosted SaaS offering with no separate open-source repository. The implementation is operated by Vivaldo.
Requirements
MCP-compatible HTTP client or AI agent; no local installation required.
Installation instructions
Configure the HTTP endpoint https://mcp.vivaldo.shop/mcp as your MCP server in your AI system. Perform a standard MCP initialization handshake: POST with JSON-RPC 2.0 initialize request. The four tools are then available via tools/list and tools/call. See https://www.vivaldo.shop/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json for detailed specifications.
Authentication
No authentication required. The server is public and read-only.
Required access permissions
Read-only access to public product data: catalog, product details, collections, and store metadata. No write, checkout, order, payment, or admin access.
Transmitted or stored data
The server is a cloud-hosted endpoint operated by Vivaldo that wraps the public Shopify Storefront API. All retrieved data is public catalog and storefront information. No data storage or logging occurs beyond Shopify's standard logging.
Security risks
No customer data risk — only public product information. No checkout, payment, or admin API access. Server is read-only. Privacy policy follows Shopify and Vivaldo terms.
