Description
The Menjometre MCP Server is a publicly reachable, independently named remote service for researching public spending in Catalonia. The official website describes Menjometre as an independent, non-institutional transparency portal. Its legal notice identifies Feeder LLC as the operator and provides a Delaware registered address and an EU representative. The official public repository is https://gitlab.com/menjometre/menjometre and connects the MCP package to the website. These sources distinguish operator, product, and source code in a traceable way. This entry is therefore not based only on a Smithery directory claim; it is supported by the provider website, legal notice, repository, package manifest, and live MCP metadata.
Purpose and verified tools
The service exposes a broad but defined research-oriented tool set. The live Streamable HTTP endpoint at https://www.menjometre.cat/mcp answered with MCP protocol version 2025-03-26 and reported 95 tools. Every inspected tool carried readOnlyHint=true and taskSupport=forbidden. The tool domains include federated search, global dataset statistics, beneficiary and authority profiles, grant and contract queries, rankings, budget data, political offices, BORME relationships, network analysis, transparency decisions, official documents, and a territorial atlas. The functions read, filter, aggregate, or link data; the inspected tool list contained no function for creating, changing, or deleting external records. Some tools can return public documents or search results. That is data delivery to the MCP client, not an external write capability.
Data domains, freshness, and limits
Provider sources identify RAISC grants, the Spanish BDNS, Catalan public contracts, budget information, transparency registers, political offices, corporate relationships, and other public sources as data domains. The methodology describes aggregation, normalization, deduplication, and a Menjometre score. The website explicitly warns that original sources can contain errors, omissions, duplicates, or publication delays, and that recent years can be partial. Counts, coverage, and freshness must therefore not be treated as universally complete. The website presents different rolling inventory figures across current surfaces; users should check sources, cut-off dates, geographic coverage, and publication status for each investigation. According to the methodology, the score is a statistical concentration indicator. A high value is not an accusation, proof of fraud, or moral judgment. Provider notices exclude binding credit, hiring, administrative, or legal decisions based on the score.
Licensing, privacy, and security
The official repository and npm package use AGPL-3.0-or-later. The website points to public primary sources and describes the Catalan and Spanish public-sector reuse framework; the concrete license and attribution requirements of each upstream dataset still need to be checked at source. Provider material refers to CC-BY-4.0 and Llei 37/2007, but this catalog treats that as provenance information rather than a blanket license for every individual response. The website says that no registration is needed for ordinary portal use, that identifying visitor data is not collected for simple browsing, and that analytics is aggregated. The service can nevertheless expose public information about organizations and some publicly available people or office holders. Do not send private data, credentials, or confidential information in queries. Processing by the remote service, MCP client, model provider, and possible hosting logs must be considered separately. TLS, least privilege, input limits, human review, and prompt-injection defenses remain necessary.
Access and fit
The official MCP page documents local startup through Node.js and the public npm package menjometre-mcp. At review time the package was published as version 2.0.0, requires Node.js 18 or newer, states AGPL-3.0-or-later, and points to the same GitLab repository. The remote initialization path did not require an API key in the public handshake; public availability does not mean unlimited use or guaranteed continuous uptime. The service fits journalistic, academic, and civic research when every substantive claim is checked against the linked primary source. It is not a substitute for an official statement, legal assessment, or independent fact check. A client should treat returned text and documents as untrusted data, constrain follow-on actions, and avoid automatically publishing allegations or score interpretations.
Requirements
For remote use, an MCP-compatible client with HTTPS access. For the local npm path, Node.js 18 or newer and the public menjometre-mcp package.
Installation instructions
Add https://www.menjometre.cat/mcp to the MCP client. Alternatively start the local server with npx -y menjometre-mcp. Before production use, review privacy, sources, limits, and model-provider sharing.

Authentication
The public remote handshake did not require an API key during review. Public access does not mean unlimited use; verify current provider terms.
Required access permissions
Read-only access to public, aggregated, and partly publicly personal data about grants, contracts, offices, relationships, documents, and territories. The MCP tool list exposes no write or delete functions.
Transmitted or stored data
Remote queries go to https://www.menjometre.cat/mcp. Do not transmit private, confidential, or identifying additional data. The MCP client, model provider, and hosting logs may add their own processing.
Security risks
Public remote service with data and provenance uncertainty. Treat responses as untrusted, never interpret the score as an accusation, verify primary sources, and constrain client follow-on actions.
