Description
The Attio MCP Server connects your AI assistant to Attio, a customizable CRM from London. A CRM is the software where a team manages contacts, companies and sales opportunities. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor work with external services. Attio runs the server itself at mcp.attio.com. You do not install anything on your machine. You just add that address and sign in with your Attio account.
What is the Attio MCP Server good for?
Much of sales work is upkeep: writing notes after a meeting, moving a deal to the next stage, handing out tasks or finding out when someone last spoke to a customer. With the MCP server, you describe jobs like these in plain language. The assistant finds the right records, reads emails and call recordings, and writes the results back to the CRM. Typical examples include preparing for the next customer call, listing every deal with no contact in the last two weeks, or summarizing what a prospect said across recent calls. According to Attio, some teams even use the server for complete data migrations from other systems.
Tools at a glance
According to the documentation, the server offers 48 tools in eleven groups. For records and objects, there is search, retrieval, creation, upsert, updates and merging duplicates. With lists, you create new lists, add records and change entries, such as the stage in a pipeline. On top of that come comments, notes, tasks and, since October 2026, activities such as calls or site visits. Semantic search is especially useful. Semantic means the server searches by meaning rather than exact words. It works across notes, emails and call recordings. A reporting tool builds simple reports. An SQL tool answers more complex questions across all objects, but according to Attio it is only available on the Enterprise plan and can only read.
What sets it apart
Attio says it did not generate the tools automatically from its REST API but designed them for agents from scratch. An engineering post from February 2026 explains that the team prefers a few rich tools and returns responses in a compact format that uses fewer tokens. Tokens are the units of text that AI models count and bill by. For you, that means shorter answers and fewer detours. Compared with unofficial Attio servers from the community, there is also no juggling of API keys.
Sign-in, rights and limits
Sign-in uses OAuth. OAuth is a method where you approve access in the browser without handing over a password or key. After that, the assistant works with exactly your rights in the workspace and sees nothing you could not see yourself. According to Attio, read tools run without asking, while write tools ask for confirmation. You can revoke sessions in your account settings. Rate limits apply per workspace, for example two requests per second for semantic search, reporting and SQL. A few tools delete things, namely comments and tasks. Records themselves can be merged but not deleted through MCP.
Clients
Attio describes setup for Claude through Connectors and for ChatGPT through Apps. Every other MCP client adds the address as a remote server and goes through the OAuth sign-in. Attio explicitly lists Cursor as compatible. There is no dedicated guide for Claude Code or Codex, but the general remote route works there just the same.
Cost
According to Attio's help center, the MCP server is available on all plans and to all workspace members. Attio offers a free plan for small teams, paid plans and enterprise tiers. The exception is the SQL tool, which is only unlocked on the Enterprise plan. Current terms are listed on Attio's pricing page.
Who is the Attio MCP Server for?
It suits sales, founder and customer success teams that already use Attio and no longer want to maintain their CRM by hand. If you spend your day in Claude or ChatGPT anyway, you get customer context without switching tabs. If you run HubSpot instead, Skill Road also lists its official MCP server. For teams that care most about quick setup and well-designed tools, Attio is one of the more mature CRM connections.
Requirements
An Attio account with access to a workspace, on any plan, and an MCP client that supports remote servers and OAuth, such as Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Claude Code. The SQL tool requires the Enterprise plan.
Installation instructions
With the Attio MCP Server, your AI assistant works directly with the contacts, deals and notes in your Attio CRM. Attio hosts the server itself, so you need neither an install nor an API key. This guide shows setup in the common clients and gives tips for safe everyday use.
Requirements
You need an Attio account with access to a workspace. According to Attio, the MCP server works on all plans, including the free one. The assistant will see exactly what you are allowed to see in Attio. So if you only want to analyze customer data, you can use an account with limited rights.
Claude and ChatGPT
In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and search for Attio under Browse connectors. After installing it, Claude sends you to Attio. There you pick your workspace and confirm access. In ChatGPT, search for Attio under Apps and connect it the same way.
Claude Code, Cursor and other clients
Every other client adds the address https://mcp.attio.com/mcp as a remote server. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http attio https://mcp.attio.com/mcp and then start the sign-in with the /mcp command. In Cursor, add an entry with this URL to your mcp.json file. On the first call, a browser opens for the OAuth sign-in. Attio explicitly lists Cursor as compatible. There is no dedicated guide for Claude Code, but the general route works there just the same.
Step 1: First tasks
Start with read-only questions, such as: Which deals in the proposal stage have had no contact for two weeks? Or: Summarize what company X raised in the last three calls. Semantic search also finds passages where the exact word never appears. After that, you can let the assistant create notes, assign tasks or merge duplicates.
Work safely
According to Attio, read tools run without asking, while write tools ask for confirmation. Read these prompts before you agree, especially when merging records. Emails and notes often come from outside and may carry hidden instructions. Revoke sessions you no longer need in Attio's account settings.
claude mcp add --transport http attio https://mcp.attio.com/mcp
Authentication
OAuth in the browser with your own Attio account, no API key needed. Sessions can be revoked in Attio's account settings.
Required access permissions
Reading, creating, updating and merging records, creating and updating lists and list entries, notes, comments, tasks and activities, reading emails, meetings and call recordings, plus reports. Deleting is only possible for comments and tasks. Every call runs with the signed-in user's rights, and according to Attio, write operations ask for confirmation.
Transmitted or stored data
The server is hosted by Attio and only works within your own workspace. According to Attio, operations are logged and not shared with external systems unless further integrations are set up. Content that appears in the chat, such as emails or call notes, also reaches the client's AI provider.
Security risks
Medium. The assistant can change customer data, merge duplicates and delete comments and tasks. A crafted text in an email or note can carry hidden instructions and trigger unwanted actions. Review write actions before confirming them and only allow tools permanently that truly just read.
