- Claude
Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant and spans everything from everyday chat to independent, agentic coding. Across web, iOS, Android, and desktop, it writes and edits text, generates code and visualizes data, runs web searches, and creates and executes files right inside the chat. Anyone already familiar with Claude as a coding tool through Claude Code gets the same provider and usage pool with the consumer plans, just wrapped in a broader everyday interface with memory across conversations, Slack and Google Workspace connectors, and remote MCP support for arbitrary external tools.
Free
Per the provider, the free plan covers everyday questions: chat across all platforms, code generation, web search, memory across conversations, file creation with code execution, plus access to desktop extensions, Slack and Google Workspace connectors, and remote MCP. Anyone using Claude only occasionally for simple tasks usually gets by without extra cost.
Pro
Pro builds on Free with significantly more usage, the full feature set including Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Claude Design, and Claude Science, unlimited projects for organizing chats and documents, and access to additional models plus Claude for Microsoft 365. Per the provider, commercial terms depend on the selected billing cadence. For everyday productivity — regular coding, writing, research — this is the natural entry point.
Max
Max is aimed at power users who work with Claude all day: you can choose five or twenty times the usage of Pro per rolling five-hour session window, plus higher output limits, early access to new features, and priority access during high traffic. All activity on Claude across web, desktop, mobile, and Claude Code draws from the same usage pool.
Team and Enterprise
For teams, Anthropic offers the Team plan with multiple seat types and usage-based tiers. Included are centralized billing, single sign-on, admin controls for connectors, and organization-wide search; training on your own content is disabled by default. Enterprise goes further with role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, custom data retention controls, IP allowlisting, and a HIPAA-compliant offering; Anthropic's official pricing page is the source of truth for current commercial terms.
Claude Code as part of the subscription
Per the provider, Claude Code is included in all paid plans and shares usage limits with the rest of the plan — terminal work and chats draw from the same pool. For very intensive coding sessions, you can additionally switch to usage-based API credits through a console account.
Security and privacy
Training on your own content is disabled by default (opt-out) across all consumer and team plans. Enterprise customers additionally get audit logs, a compliance API, and individual control over data storage and retention.
Which plan fits whom
Anyone using Claude only occasionally will get by with Free. For regular coding and writing at work or in school, Pro is worth it; anyone working with Claude all day and needing long, uninterrupted sessions moves to Max. Teams needing centralized billing turn to Team, while Enterprise only becomes necessary with high compliance and security requirements.
